COOL SPRING VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL |
Vacation Bible School is an exciting week at Cool Spring usually in
June of the year, one or two weeks after school lets out for the
Summer. This extremely popular week exposes children to the
Christian faith through Bible stories, music, crafts, games, and
fun.
There is a specific theme each year, and the children's rooms are
extensively decorated. Each year several hundred children attend,
and generally no one is turned away. Children age 4 to those
completing the 5th grade participate until noon for 5 days. Mission
projects are also completed during the week, including a mission
donation. Families are invited to a celebration held on
Thursday or Friday evening of the that week.
There are photo pages for each VBS at Cool Spring
for the past several years.

430 boys and girls heard the good news of Jesus at VBS
this past week! Jesus, we thank you for allowing us the
joy of serving you during VBS!
To all of the many workers (over 200) who rode the waves
with us, served behind the scenes, taught in the
classrooms, worked on the front lines and knelt at home
praying for this year's SonSurf Beach Bash VBS ministry
to our community, we extend to you our deepest heartfelt
appreciation for all the hours of hard work, sacrifice
and devotion you gave to helping make VBS a wonderful
experience for the children that God sent to our campus.
Your actions were an outward demonstration of His love
and grace at work in you. Thank you for being such an
awesome reflection of Christ. We thank you!
SonSurf Beach Bash will gave kids answers to five big
questions about Jesus:
Who is Jesus?
Why can I trust Jesus?
Why do I need Jesus?
How can Jesus help me
when I mess up?
What does Jesus want me to do?
“I am the way, the truth and the life; no one
comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6

lives can be transformed by God’s great love for them.
See Photos from
VBS 2009 HERE (with VBS Music!)
What a great week! God blessed us with over 400 children
attending SonRock Kids Camp, and with 286 volunteers who
gave of their time and talents!
Vacation Bible School 2009 Mission Projects:
- A general offering was taken by VBS, and crafts made
by different age groups were used as charitable
donations.
- Our mission projects this year began in our craft
classes during the week as the children worked on
projects that will be donated to others. Many of those
projects can be seen on VBS 2009 Photo Page.
- The 4th -5th graders created a rock garden filled
with lovely hand painted planters and benches for the
residents of The Wyatt House, to enjoy.
- The Preschoolers, Kindergarteners, & 1st - 3rd
graders made and decorated items to be shared with
several people in our community: residents at Covenant
Woods, Cool Spring shut-ins, Hanover Safe Place and the
homeless in D.C. and Richmond. Travel-sized items were
donated for the hygiene kits.
- Monetary donations collected during the week from
children attending will be used to purchase additional
items to be placed in the hygiene bags and the remainder
was donated to our Senior High mission trip to Arizona
in July 2009. We are very excited about this opportunity
to reach out to others in our community and in other
parts of the United States .
- In addition, the Chick-fil-A on Bell Creek Rd. in
Mechanicsville will sponsored a Spirit Night on
Wednesday, June 24th from 5:30 - 8:00 with 10% of the
proceeds going toward the Arizona Mission Trip.

that doesn't include the countless number of people who
prayed for VBS, baked, etc. Thank you Cool Spring family
for allowing God to use you in such a mighty way!

VBS 2007: TAKE THE PLUNGE! |
|
|
Vacation Bible School 2007
- Take the Plunge!

Vacation Bible School June 25th – 29th 8:30 am - noon
"Take the Plunge!"
God blessed our time together as children plunged into
the Word and learned how Jesus used the very common
element of water to teach some uncommon lessons.
Nearly 500 children attended VBS this year! 320 on-site
volunteers gave of their time & talent and that doesn't
include the countless number of people who prayed for
VBS, baked, etc..
Hundreds of flip-flops and children's underwear were
donated for impoverished communities in the Dominican
Republic, and $1075.31 was raised to help complete a
modest church building in Guayacanal, Dominican
Republic. Our youth prayer-walked and led Bible Clubs
there last year, and will return again this year. They
will hand deliver items collected when they arrive in
the Dominican Republic on June 30th for their summer
mission trip. Thank you Cool Spring family for allowing
God to use you in such a mighty way!

for all things in life; and from Paul that Jesus changes hearts & lives.
460 children attended, and 17 children made professions of faith in
Jesus Christ. More than 300 volunteers, from 6th grade children to
adults, gave of their time & talents. Thank you to all who allowed God
to use them in such a mighty way!

attendance. Over 250 adult and youth volunteers were actively
involved during the week. The children participated in Bible study
based on Galatians 5:22-23, the fruit of the Spirit. They also
enjoyed recreational activities, crafts, singing praises to God, and
skits. The Cool Spring County Fair was held after the Friday evening
closing ceremonies. The monetary offering during the week was used
to support missionaries ministering to the Lozi people in Africa, and
small toys and other items were collected for the Youth to take to Mexico
on their Mission Trip to Reynosa. Click here to see
Vacation Bible School 2003 - "Son

Vacation Bible School 2002 - Walkin' by Faith and not by Sight
- was a great success. Held from June 24-28, God blessed
us with 410 children and taught us lessons in faith
along the way. More than 170 youth and adults
volunteered during the week to ensure children were
cared for and ministered to. Toys and school supplies
were collected for Samaritan’s Purse and will be sent in
shoeboxes in the fall to destinations around the world.
The total offering collected for the week will be given
to Hanover Habitat for Humanity. Children learned
through recreation, crafts, refreshments, and music that
pointed the way to an "Extreme Adventure with Jesus"
